QUAMPI is more than a destination — it is a cultural ambition, a way for the Quandamooka people to share their artistic excellence with the world.
The name references a local pearl shell of oysters and favoured food of Quandamooka people for thousands of years.
The QUAMPI Arts and Culture Centre, opened in 2025, includes exhibition, event, and performance spaces, along with a café and gift shop. Goldi worked closely with Quandamooka elders, artists, the architectural design team, and the State Government to develop a brand strategy, identity, and wayfinding system that reflects the Centre’s purpose and community ownership.
The brand identity draws inspiration from the Quampi — a culturally significant pearl shell that has nourished and symbolised growth for the Quandamooka people for thousands of years. The logo incorporates the shell’s growth lines in the typography, with the letters ‘A’ and ‘M’ referencing the three Quandamooka tribes and a subtle midline evoking the coastline of Minjerribah. This approach anchors the brand in local culture while giving it a contemporary, globally relevant presence.
The identity extends beyond the logo into a flexible system applied across signage, digital touchpoints, and environmental graphics. Wayfinding and signage were designed to harmonise with the architecture, using materials and finishes that echo sand, sea, rammed earth, and native timbers. This creates a cohesive visual language that guides visitors intuitively while maintaining a strong sense of place.
QUAMPI’s personality is warm, playful, and welcoming — a reflection of the community and the artists it celebrates. Through a collaborative, culturally informed process, the brand gives the Quandamooka people a story and symbol they can own, while creating a Centre that is inviting, inspiring, and unmistakably connected to Country. The QUAMPI identity is a living expression of culture, community, and possibility — bridging past, present, and future.
